8 things to do in uluwatu
1- Thomas beach
thomas beach is possibly the most beautiful beach we visited in Bali pristine white sand and blue waters. We had the whole beach almost too ourselves due to it being quite hard to find and a tough hike down. ( tougher coming up). There are plenty of local places along the beach where you can rent a umbrella and spend the day in your own little paradise.
2- Balangan viewpoint
situated on the northern tip of Balangan Beach there are stunning panoramic views over the whole beach below. A iconic sunset spot in Bali where you can sit at the top of the cliffs and watch the sun go down across the horizon.
3- uluwatu temple
Uluwatu temple is a must do while in Bali. Built on top of a 70- meter high cliff, The Balinese people believe that the coastal temple protects Bali from evil sea spirits and that the three divine powers of Vishnu, Bramah and siva become one here. During sunset the kecak dance in performed and is the main attraction. It costs 30,000 IDR each and please be careful there are cheeky monkeys everywhere waiting for your sunglasses.
4- visit GWK cultural park
GWK cultural park is a huge park used for music events, and exhibitions. More famously known for its 121 meter high bronze statue of lord Vishnu.
5- watch the sunset at single Finns
What better place than single Finns to watch the sunset. This beautiful bar and restaurant has unparalleled views over of the surf. the many layers of terraces come alive with there music especially there infamous Sunday sessions with regular international dj’s and live acts.
6- Kecak fire dance
the kecak fire dance is a iconic dance performance, a group of human vocals acts as instruments that tell a story in the form of dance. All of This happens during sunset on top of the cliff- top inside uluwatu temple.
7- omnia dayclub
The most famous ocean cliff club in bali. Perfectly placed on the stunning limestone cliffs of uluwatu This spectacular location of the bar oozes luxury.
The Cube is the cinematic piece de resistance: a tower of shimmering silver which comes to life after dark when it lights up the horizon, creating unforgettable sunset hands-in-the-air memories of perfect island days
The extravagant food is top class, eat dinner at there Sake no Hana restaurant and dine on food fresh off there grill.
8- Suluban beach
suluban beach is incredibly popular with surfers, the surfing point named blue point is only accessible via a small hole between the rocks which can be entered via a cove. There are two entrances to the beach both are free though you will need to pay to park if your travelling by scooter. Beach entrance 3,000IDR. Single fin entrance 5,000 IDR .
This beach was a totally different experience than the others we visited. At the bottom of the stairs you will find Half the beach is shaded by the caved cliffs. The other half catches the sun throughout the day. There is also a real life shipwreck.
Getting around in Bali
Travelling around in Bali you have a couple of options. We recommend hiring a scooter you can hire them for between 55,000 IDR – 70,000IDR per day though if your having it for a longer period you might be able to negotiate a lower price.
If you are not confident on a scooter you can hire a driver for the day there all over the island and costs from 500,000IDR a day which is about £26.90
We also downloaded the GOJEK app which was a total lifesaver and cheep, for taxi.
